Contactors, Switches, Relays

The automotive industry makes extensive use of beryllium copper (CuBe) components. On average, more than 30 grams of CuBe can be found in a single vehicle, especially in connectors, switches, sensors, and relays.

They are used in contacts and motor arms for electric windows, in light and turn signal switches, as well as in reverse light contacts inside gearboxes. Pressure gauge diaphragms for oil measurement are also made from beryllium copper.

Safety Systems

Combining high electrical conductivity with excellent mechanical strength, Berylco beryllium copper alloys ensure unmatched long-term reliability and are widely used in safety-critical systems such as airbags, ABS, sensors, and GPS.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Berylco alloys are also used in charging terminals and connectors for electric (EV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicles.

Beryllium copper is the only conductive material capable of withstanding the repeated mechanical stress of plug-in and unplug cycles. Its proven performance in contactors, relays, and switches in combustion engine vehicles makes it even more essential in electric vehicle designs.

Berylco beryllium copper alloys are also used in the many sensors that enable autonomous driving. Their exceptional reliability is critical for ensuring passenger safety.
