Mill-hardened Products

Special heat-treating of the wire at the NGK mill produces a “Mill-Hardened” (HM) tempered Beryllium Copper wire which can then be formed and used without additional heat-treatment.

Features

Due to a straightening process during manufacturing, Beryllium Copper fine wire requires no further straightening when used.

Plated wire, in particular, has excellent solderability.

As it is age-hardened during the manufacturing process, Beryllium Copper fine wire is hard enough to avoid deformation under high temperature conditions.

NGK Berylco can produce fine wire diameter to Ø0.05 mm with silver plating and mill-hardened process.

Berylco wire has similar characteristic as Beryllium Copper alloys.

Beryllium Copper wire combine formability with very high strength properties when aged-hardened to a maximum of 1750 MPa. They can endure high bending stress, perform excellently at elevated temperatures and are highly resistant to corrosion.

The electrical conductivity of Beryllium Copper is 20 to 60 %IACS. Low beryllium alloy B14 achieves lower strength but in comparison a higher electrical conductivity (60 %IACS).

Applications are in springs, connectors, switches and automotive parts. Berylco wire today’s growing applications are electronic miniaturized components.
